I recently went along to a photo walk in London with the Surrey & Hampshire Photography Group. This was the first time I had attended an event from www.meetup.com and it was a very enjoyable day out.

We met at King’s Cross station and the route took us past Euston, up to Camden Market and back along the Regent’s Canal to our starting point, about 3 miles in total with a couple of small diversions to points of interest nearby.

I met a very friendly bunch of people, about a dozen in total, and hope to meet more of the group on future events. These photo walks are great for meeting like-minded people, generating ideas, getting tips and seeing how other photographers interpret the same scenes. It’s interesting to see what they saw and you missed! The meetup website is particularly good for this as it allows you to share photos after the event.

I have to say a big thank you to Peter who organised the day, and did very well to ensure no one went astray (apart from those who had to leave early), and we all made it to the pub at the end – very welcome, as it was on the hottest day in London so far this year with the temperature hitting around 27°C.
